Celebrating One Year of ‘Lives Like The City’:
A Journey of Music, Growth, and Gratitude

🎉 Happy First Reverb-iversary to 'Lives Like The City'! 🎉

It’s been an incredible journey around the sun (I’ve seen so many concerts, that I made up for the past 10 years), and ‘Lives Like The City’ has officially marked its first anniversary! I truly am overwhelmed with gratitude for the unwavering support and uplifting messages from each of you. Your encouragement has been a beacon during some of the most challenging times I’ve encountered over the past year.

A Heartfelt Disclaimer:

I must acknowledge that my posts have been sporadic, to say the least. Despite this, my passion for writing music never waned, even amidst lyrical roadblocks. The result? (still stuck lyrically but) I’m brimming with material—enough to fill three full albums. These songs, rich in diversity, are patiently awaiting their moment to develop into what I envision will become a sophomore album. With several concepts in mind and the artwork nearing completion (shoutout to the talented Michael), the creative process is in full swing (with some ups and downs, but mostly in swing).

In recent months, I’ve grappled with feelings of depression, confusion, detachment, and frustration—emotions that have tested my limits. I fell to some really dark places – I’m still picking up the pieces as I type these words – There have been moments when my self-worth seemed within reach, only to slip away, leaving me searching for a way back on track. Yet, this is the raw essence of my current journey.

The Dream Inches Closer:

As ‘Lives Like The City’ celebrates its first year, my lifelong dream inches tantalizingly closer. The City of Angels beckons, and I’m set to embark for Los Angeles next Saturday—a dream that’s been years in the making. – A big Hurrah! for dreams coming to be, finally!

Reflecting on the path that led to ‘Lives Like The City,’ my heart swells with a profound sense of pride and accomplishment. The journey here was no straight shot; it was a winding road with more twists and turns than a synth solo. There were moments, I’ll admit, where the temptation to pack it all in was as palpable as the thump of a kick drum in an empty hall. But surrender isn’t in my repertoire (well… Your Surrender is, HA!).

Now, as I hold the purple cassette, its BRZ cover gleaming back at me, it’s not just an album—it’s a testament to tenacity. It’s tangible proof that the most intricate melodies of our lives often come from the push and pull of perseverance. This cassette is a reminder, a physical echo of the journey, that every path to creation is stitched together with small steps, incremental achievements, and the occasional, inevitable stumble backward.

This little piece of plastic and tape, with its magnetic charm, stands as a beacon to the notion that every setback is just another verse in our saga, every triumph a chorus that lifts us higher. It’s a reminder that the music of our lives is not defined by how swiftly we reach the final note, but by the passion and persistence we pour into the entire composition. It’s a celebration of the fact that sometimes, the most beautiful crescendos arise from a series of disjointed chords that somehow find harmony.

A Milestone in Skill and Artistry:

‘Lives Like The City’ isn’t just a collection of songs; it represents a significant leap in my evolution as a musician and producer. The road ahead is still long, but the strides made are undeniable. New production classes have honed my skills, leading to a sound that’s richer and more refined. I’m eager to share these advancements with you, particularly as I delve into the realms of Post Punk and Shoegaze – imagine the sonic bastard child of The Cure, New Order, Joy Division and Depeche Mode.

This album stands as a personal landmark in my career. It’s a curated collection of tracks, each one a chapter that speaks to a different angle of a cohesive story, breaking free from the confines of genre labels. From the retro beats of Synthwave to the catchy rhythms of Synthpop, and the edgy echoes of New Wave, this album refuses to be boxed in by traditional classifications. It’s a 14-track odyssey that’s deeply personal, a musical voyage that’s undeniably, unmistakably ‘me.’
